My Calls Sound Choppy or Keep Dropping; How Do I Fix It?
Poor call quality is almost always a network issue. Here's how to diagnose and fix it.
Common causes:
- Weak Wi-Fi or internet connection
- Too many devices on the same network
- VPN interference
- Outdated app or firmware
Steps to improve call quality:
1. Move closer to your Wi-Fi router or switch to a wired (Ethernet) connection if possible.
2. Disconnect other devices that are streaming or using heavy bandwidth (Netflix, large downloads, etc.).
3. Disable your VPN temporarily and test a call; VPNs can interfere with VoIP traffic.
4. Switch networks; if on Wi-Fi, try mobile data or vice versa.
5. Restart your router*; unplug it, wait 30 seconds, plug it back in.
6. Update the RingCentral app to the latest version.
